Today was held in Messina, as in all of Italy, the 14th edition of the Food Collection. In a time where confusion, uncertainty and doubt, the mood seems to become more widespread among the people, the man appears more and more alone. Meet people prepared to share this free play, which is the true desire awakens in every heart to be loved.
"Charity is the greatest gift that God has given to men ... it is love given and love received (CV).
Have been shopping for those who are worse off than it was then time for an immediate and positive change for themselves and for society.
Despite the severe economic downturn, there was a significant increase in donations of food.
were donated in our province, 70,013 pounds of food, well more than 8,950 kg in 2009.
In the city were 33,055 kg collected: 2842 kg in the previous year.
We want to thank all those who have contributed to the success of the initiative: the supermarket chains that have hosted the Food Collection, the 1500 volunteers belonging mostly to local charitable organizations (soup kitchens, community for children, schools solidarity movements, religious groupings) and trading companies that have provided personnel and equipment.
Special thanks go to the Municipal Police Command Messina and the Italian Post Office, which provided significant logistical support.
Thanks finally to all those who, by shopping, have donated a large part to the needy.

curtain AVSI was launched at Christmas to support four important companies in the world (Rice The Bank, for the families of farmers in Burma, nell'Ayeyarwaddy; Secondary School Kireka for kids in Uganda, Kampala; The canteen and Centre for mothers and children in Mexico, Oaxaca; sponsorship for school children in the Holy Land), but after the catastrophic Earthquake Haiti has become urgent support of AVSI volunteers that operate for some time, at two sites in Haiti to support the education of children, and today continue to hope for their survival.

Following the violent earthquake that struck Haiti, AVSI has launched a fundraiser to intervene on behalf of the population and deal with the major you apply emergency humanitarian created on the island.
AVSI has been present in Haiti since 1999 with projects in support of the local reality, and his six operators are fortunately saved.
